MOC Set as Qualifier for adidas Grand Prix HS Relays

Youth Can Earn Spots in NYC Meet at New GSTC Event on May 30

NEW YORK CITY (May 7, 2015)—For the first time, the New Jersey NJSIAA Meet of Champions will serve as the official qualifying meet for New Jersey high school relay teams to compete in the adidas Grand Prix on June 13.

At the MOC, on June 3 in South Plainfield, eight New Jersey prep teams will earn spots in the high school relays at the 11th-annual adidas Grand Prix, where they will compete against some of the best teams from New York and Jamaica. Two teams each will be named from the boys’ 4x800-meter relay, boys’ 4x400-meter relay, girls’ 4x100-meter relays, and girls’ 4x400-meter relay.

Also for the first time, the adidas Garden State Track Club will host an adidas Grand Prix Youth Qualifier meet, at which New Jersey representatives in eight events will be selected. The meet is set for Saturday, May 30, at Highland Park High School in Highland Park, NJ.

Among the top athletes expected at this year’s adidas Grand Prix are Olympic gold medalists and World Record-holders Usain Bolt and David Rudisha and former New Jersey prep star Ajeé Wilson.

The seventh stop on the international IAAF Diamond League circuit, the adidas Grand Prix is in its 11th year at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, in conjunction with the Randall’s Island Park Alliance.
